Açıklama
Developments in information technology (IT) contributed to the "New Archaeology" concept in the 60s. (Renfrew and Bahn, 2012) Thus, the methodological studies on digital archaeometry or archaeo-informatics have evolved and led to various research under the scope of Digital Archaeology. (Fisher, 2020) Likewise, Artificial Intelligence, the new milestone of IT started to transform archaeological methodologies. However, archaeologists have been struggling between traditional methods and the stunningly fast development of new popular tools.
This study aims to emphasize the common structural issues and how we can cope with these challenges. Particularly, the most widespread ones will be examined, like metadata and massive image archive management, field data collection/digital transformation issues, spatial data management, and statistical analysis tools. Instead of rediscovering proven research tools, methods of adapting them to archaeology will be suggested.
