Description
To understand how language choices reflect and reinforce ideological viewpoints, Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) looks at the relationship between language and power. It is especially essential for comprehending how media narratives shape public perceptions of conflicts. This directs the readers’ perspectives towards the shared information. This study examines how and how often adverbs and verbs are used in TRT World and Fox News’ coverage of the October 7th Israel-Palestine crisis in one year by using a corpus-based CDA technique. The findings focus on significant differences between the two media by emphasizing how language shapes narratives that express the sources’ ideological tendencies. Results indicate that Turkish Radio Television (TRT) World frames the events predominantly from the Palestinian perspective, while Fox News emphasizes the Israeli viewpoint. This study provides valuable insights into the interplay between language and ideology in media narratives by contributing to broader discussions on media bias and conflict reporting.
